Firstly, you need to make sure you have fully decided upon the decoration for that particular area. With this idea, you can decide on the color schemes, fabrics, fittings and accessories that will fully illustrate how you wish to be perceived, and how you should feel in your own area. Choosing colors and fabrics will often be determined by an overall theme, but you may wish to be creative and inspired enough to select these items based on a carefully laid out plan that brings out both your personality, and aids in the circulation of positive energies.

Once this has almost been finalized, it is time to purchase the equipment. Before doing this, it may be wise to shop around, or see what deals can be had from discount stores. You could even ask others if they have any spare materials or tools that can be taken or borrowed to help you with your tasks. Ensuring that you have everything that you could possibly use, it will then be time to move on to the next step.

This step is where you will need to clean up. This sounds like such a simple answer, and one that many people will have already made an attempt on. However, if the areas you are working on are not completely clear of  junk, then it can become impossible to gain that start you need. It is amazing how much a person can accrue over time, and being brutal with the purging of your items. If necessary, you can place some items in storage until you have the space back, as this will be a good incentive to keep working. After cleaning up, you then need to work on eliminating the furniture around the area that is to be worked on. If it is at all possible, then clearing the entire space and working quickly should ensure that your furnishings do not become damaged, or spend too much time outside of their respective places. If you are stuck for space, it may be that you need to move your possessions on one side of the room first, and then work on that before moving on. Either way, you need to be sure that clean literally means empty.

When you are satisfied with the cleaning of the area to be worked on, then you can finalize your preparations. Covering over any materials is another useful tip, as you do not wish to allow their filth to affect yourself. Placing the wallpaper on the pasting board, mixing the lump free paste, and opening any paint tins when you need them is fantastic.
